Chandrababu Naidu Announces Comprehensive Compensation Package for Flood Victims in Vijayawada
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday unveiled a relief package for flood victims in Vijayawada and assistance for farmers who faced heavy losses due to the recent rains. Addressing the media, Naidu revealed that over 2,72,000 families were directly or indirectly impacted by the floods in Vijayawada.
He announced that every house on the ground floor submerged in floodwaters within the jurisdiction of 179 Sachivalayams would receive financial aid of Rs 25,000. For houses on the first floor and above, a compensation of Rs 10,000 would be provided. In other flood-affected regions of the state, ground-floor houses will receive Rs 10,000 each as relief.
Naidu emphasized that this is the first time a compensation package of such magnitude has been introduced, contrasting it with earlier relief efforts that provided only Rs 4,000 per house.
For small businesses like Kirana stores and hotels, Rs 25,000 will be extended. Additionally, registered establishments and MSMEs with a turnover of less than Rs 40 lakh per year will receive Rs 50,000 each. Establishments with a turnover between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 1.5 crore will be compensated with Rs 1 lakh each, while those with a turnover above Rs 1.5 crore will receive Rs 1.5 lakh.
This substantial relief package marks a significant step in aiding flood victims and local businesses in recovering from the recent calamity.
