Chandrababu Naidu Announces New Initiatives for Andhra Pradesh Development
On Monday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced the establishment of a dedicated Public Private Partnership (PPP) wing in Amaravati. He emphasized the adoption of the PPP model for the development and maintenance of state highways, and stated that the new wing will provide guidance to district collectors on PPP projects.
In a separate announcement, Naidu revealed plans for a CID inquiry into irregularities in sand mining during the YSRC regime, affirming that free sand should be a right for the people. He mentioned that sand booking facilities will be available at village and ward secretariats, where consumers can pay transport fees directly to avoid additional charges.
Naidu urged officials to propose innovative ideas and seek opportunities to implement the PPP model, citing the success of the Med-Tech project established during the previous TDP government. In discussions on industry and investments, he stressed the importance of reclaiming Andhra Pradesh's top position in ease of doing business, and highlighted the development of an industry-friendly policy with a focus on high-potential sectors.
He called for the swift completion of infrastructure projects, including ports, fishing harbours, and roads. Regarding municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD), Naidu prioritized sanitation and garbage collection, criticizing the previous YSRCP government for failing to submit utilization certificates for Swachh Bharat Mission funds.
For Anna Canteens, Naidu proposed creating a donation-based corpus similar to the TTD food donation program. He reaffirmed the state government's commitment to providing ₹25 lakh medical insurance for all, urging government hospitals to compete with private institutions by effectively utilizing funds.
In education, Naidu advocated for the implementation of an Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) to track academic skills, and focused on reducing dropout rates and reintegrating dropouts into the education system. He encouraged the transformation of government educational institutions into futuristic learning centers and proposed the development of a virtual working policy to establish Andhra Pradesh as a hub for virtual work.
Additionally, Naidu reviewed welfare, civil supplies, and services sectors, and announced the appointment of dedicated officers in each district to monitor essential commodity prices and facilitate immediate market interventions when necessary.
