Chandrababu Naidu: From Political Beginnings to Kingmaker
Nara Chandrababu Naidu, often called CBN, started his political career in the 1970s with the Congress Party. He became a prominent leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which he joined after marrying the daughter of the party's founder, N.T. Rama Rao (NTR).
Naidu's significant political move came in 1995 when he led a split in the TDP and became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. His efficient, business-like approach to governance earned him the nickname 'CEO CM'. He transformed Hyderabad into a major tech hub, attracting global attention.
In 2014, Naidu became the first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh after the state was split to create Telangana. However, he faced a major setback in 2019 when he lost the elections to YSRCP leader Jagan Mohan Reddy. He was also jailed in a corruption case but was released on bail.
Recently, Naidu made a political comeback by forming an alliance with the Jana Sena Party and the BJP. This alliance won the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections and 16 Lok Sabha seats, making Naidu a crucial ally for the BJP, which failed to secure a majority in the national elections. Now, Naidu's TDP is supporting the BJP-led government at the center, playing a significant role in Indian politics once again.
