Chandrababu Naidu Launches Massive TDP Membership Drive, Reaffirms Party’s Legacy and Welfare Initiatives
At a recent event at the TDP Central Office in Mangalagiri, TDP Chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a 45-day membership drive, urging party members to take up the campaign statewide. After renewing his membership, Naidu rallied TDP activists to reach unprecedented numbers, emphasizing the TDP’s historic impact and mission of service.
Describing the TDP as a "political university," Naidu highlighted the party's role in nurturing generations of Telugu leaders. He lauded the TDP’s long-standing welfare initiatives for both the public and party members, promising that TDP membership brings honor and recognition.
Reflecting on the TDP’s foundational impact, Naidu credited party founder NT Rama Rao for securing the global reputation of the Telugu community. "Our journey is divided into two parts—before and after the TDP," he said, recalling the achievements that brought Andhra Pradesh international acclaim.
Reaffirming the party's commitment to nurturing grassroots leaders, Naidu noted that the TDP conducts training classes for activists, transforming them into future leaders. Unique in the country, TDP offers Rs 5 lakh accidental insurance to members with a nominal Rs 100 membership fee.
He dismissed speculation on the TDP's future, asserting that recent electoral successes demonstrated the enduring strength of the TDP, in alliance with the Jana Sena and BJP. Naidu outlined six new policies targeting job creation and pensions, prioritizing these despite financial challenges.
The Chief Minister also announced new welfare initiatives, including free cooking gas cylinders during Deepavali, and repealed taxes like the garbage tax and certain government orders affecting small-scale trades. He highlighted developments worth Rs 4,500 crore for rural areas and revealed that Amaravati's capital city projects are set to accelerate by December, with the first phase of the Polavaram project targeted for completion in two years.
Additional plans include new industrial corridors and land allocation for a railway zone, as well as urban and rural housing initiatives. To party activists, Naidu pledged legal support against false cases and encouraged them to build connections at the grassroots. Notably, many members have signed up for lifetime memberships, with Rs 120 crore already invested in party welfare and Rs 102 crore in insurance benefits distributed among activists.
