Chandrababu Naidu Unveils Plans for Deep-Tech Hub in Amaravati
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced plans to construct an iconic Deep-Technology building in Amaravati, aimed at establishing the state as a hub for cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Deep Tech. Speaking during a review of the New IT Policy at the state secretariat on Tuesday, Naidu drew parallels with his earlier achievement of developing Hyderabad’s Hi-Tech City, which transformed the city into a global IT destination.
“It’s time to embrace Deep-Tech and Artificial Intelligence to leverage the opportunities presented by emerging technologies,” Naidu said, outlining his vision for the initiative.
Key Highlights of the New IT Policy:
- Deep-Tech and Innovation Hubs:
- The government plans to establish five innovation hubs across Andhra Pradesh in North Andhra, Central Andhra, South Andhra, Godavari, and Rayalaseema regions.
- These hubs will be interconnected with the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub, creating a robust ecosystem for innovation and start-ups.
- Naidu emphasized the need to link these hubs with 25 IITs to foster collaboration and technological advancement.
- Seed Funding for Entrepreneurs:
- The state will provide ₹25 lakh as seed funding to entrepreneurs from SC, ST, BC, minority communities, and women under the Start-Up Policy to encourage inclusivity and innovation.
- Employment Opportunities:
- Plans are underway to create 5 lakh workstations by 2029 and 10 lakh workstations by 2034, aimed at generating significant employment for the youth.
- District collectors have been tasked with identifying suitable lands for these workstations, and skill development initiatives will be launched to prepare the workforce for future demands.
- Subsidies for IT Companies:
- IT companies will be categorized for subsidies based on their size and capacity.
- Co-working spaces with a minimum 100-seat capacity or 10,000 sq. ft. of office space will qualify for subsidies.
- Neighborhood working spaces with a 10-seat capacity or 1,000 sq. ft. of space will also receive support.
- Companies with either a turnover of ₹30 crore or a minimum staff strength of 100 employees will be eligible for additional subsidies.
- Focus on Skill Development:
- The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of upskilling the state’s youth to meet the demands of advanced industries and technologies.
Human Resources and IT Minister Nara Lokesh praised the new IT policy, calling it a bold step toward positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in technology and innovation.
The initiative reflects Naidu’s vision of fostering technological growth, creating jobs, and building a sustainable future for the state through strategic investments in Deep-Tech and innovation.
