Chandrababu Naidu in Delhi to Push Expedited Polavaram Project
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu departed for New Delhi on Friday to address critical state matters. During his visit, he met with Union Minister for Jal Shakti, C R Patil, to discuss the Polavaram project.
On Saturday, Naidu is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Home Minister Amit Shah to further these discussions. The recent report from an international expert panel on the Polavaram project, which recommended design modifications to the diaphragm wall, was a key focus. Naidu urged the central government to expedite approvals and release the necessary funds to restart the project, emphasizing the importance of speeding up the process.
Additionally, sources revealed that a proposal to involve multiple agencies in executing the project was discussed. Naidu’s meeting with Prime Minister Modi at 4:30 pm will likely cover significant issues such as the Polavaram project, capital Amaravati, funding for backward districts, and restructuring state loans. Later, at 6 pm, he will meet with Finance Minister Sitharaman to address financial matters, followed by discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah on pending bifurcation issues and other political concerns.
