Congress Government Planning to Hike Power Tariff in Telangana
BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticized the Congress government in Telangana for its plans to hike power tariffs, imposing an additional burden on citizens. He accused the administration of failing to provide uninterrupted electricity and now preparing to increase charges, contrary to their election promises. Posting on social media, Rama Rao mocked the Congress’s "Gruha Jyothi" scheme, claiming that free electricity remains inaccessible to many eligible citizens.
He also questioned the government’s financial management, stating that despite borrowing Rs 77,000 crore in nine months, residents face power cuts and economic hardships.
Rama Rao also highlighted the plight of cotton farmers, accusing the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, of neglecting the agricultural sector. He pointed out the significant price difference in cotton between Telangana and Gujarat, with the latter offering higher rates to its farmers. The BRS leader criticized the delay in opening procurement centers by the Cotton Corporation of India, which allowed middlemen to exploit farmers. He also compared the current prices to those under the previous BRS regime, which had provided cotton rates of Rs 10,000-15,000 per quintal. Rama Rao accused the Congress of playing with the lives of farmers by denying proper investment support.
