Congress Objects to Kher's “The Accidental Prime Minister”
With elections around the corner, the upcoming biopic “The Accidental Prime Minister” based on former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s time in office has been caught in politics. This film is based on the eponymous book by the media advisor of Dr Manmohan Singh, Sanjaya Baru.
The trailer showed Singh as a victim of inside politics of Congress in 2014 general elections, which led to an argument over distortion of facts. Maharastra Youth Congress raised objections to the “incorrect presentation of facts”, and demanded a prior screening of the movie and make necessary changes recommended by them. And declared they would not let the movie to be released anywhere in the country if their demand is not met.
Anupam Kher said that the movie is going to be a ‘game changer’ in political biopics as it does not shy away from using real names. Kher said that the film is open to interpretations and one can have their own version and it is wrong to say that it supports or criticises a political party.
