Congress Unveils 'Nyay Patra' Manifesto for Lok Sabha Polls
The Congress party, led by Mallikarjun Kharge and accompanied by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections at Delhi's All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters. Dubbed 'Nyay Patra',' the manifesto focuses on the party's commitment to justice through five pillars: 'Yuva Nyay',' 'Naari Nyay',' 'Kisaan Nyay',' 'Shramik Nyay',' and 'Hissedari Nyay'.’
The manifesto outlines comprehensive plans, including conducting a socio-economic and caste census across the nation to document various castes and sub-castes alongside their socio-economic status. Additionally, the party pledges to introduce a constitutional amendment to increase the current 50% cap on reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.
Congress also promises to safeguard personal freedoms for minorities and initiate reforms in personal laws through community participation. They pledge one-half of central government jobs for women by 2025 and a Mahalakshmi scheme providing Rs 1 lakh per year to every poor Indian family.
Inclusivity is a key focus, with commitments to address government vacancies, implement a 10 percent quota in employment and educational institutions for economically disadvantaged sections, and adopt the Rajasthan model for universal healthcare.
For farmers, Congress vows legal assurance for Minimum Support Prices and aims to double GDP within a decade, replacing current GST laws with a revamped GST 2.0 system. In foreign policy, the party aims to mend relations with the Maldives and restore previous border conditions with China.
Additionally, Congress plans to revise election regulations to merge the effectiveness of electronic voting machines with the transparency of traditional ballot papers, ensuring voter confidence in the electoral process.
Through 'Nyay Patra', the Congress party seeks to address socio-economic challenges and promote inclusive development, promising a transformative agenda if elected to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
