ECI Reshuffles Andhra Pradesh Officials; Naidu Advocates for Doorstep Pension Delivery
In a significant move, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has shuffled six IPS and three IAS officers in Andhra Pradesh, citing concerns over law and order issues and politically motivated crimes. This decision comes in response to a report submitted by Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena.
Among the IPS officers affected by the transfers are Guntur Range IG G Pala Raju and Palanadu SP Ravishankar Reddy, who were reassigned due to security lapses during the Praja Galam event in Chilikaluripeta. Additionally, Prakasam SP Parameswar Reddy, Anantapur SP KKN Anburajan, Nellore SP Tirumaleswara Reddy, and Tirupati SP Joshua were moved due to election-related violence in their districts.
The ECI's decision also impacted IAS officers, including district collectors Raja Babu, Gowthami, and Lakshmi Shah, who serve as district election officers.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu has written to the Chief Election Commissioner, urging for doorstep delivery of pensions. Naidu highlighted concerns over a purported campaign against TDP by the ruling party and emphasized the need for immediate action to ensure the welfare of pensioners. He called upon the ECI and the Chief Secretary to facilitate the distribution of pensions directly to elderly and specially abled individuals, addressing the hardships faced by pensioners waiting in government offices amid scorching heat.
