Election Polls 2022: Himachal-BJP Leading In 7 Seats; Gujarat- BJP Surges Ahead Of Cong, AAP In Early Trends

BJP is leading on 7 seats in Himachal Pradesh and Congress on 3, according to early trends on the Election Commission website. Counting of votes for the 68-member assembly began at 8 am in the state where the ruling BJP is hoping to retain power. Votes are being counted across 59 locations in the state.
CM Jai Ram Thakur and Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh have maintained that their parties would get full majority with over 40 out of the 68 seats. About 76.44 percent of voters had exercised their franchise in the assembly polls held on November 12. A total of 412 candidates, including 24 women and 99 independents, are in fray.
The ruling BJP on Thursday took an impressive lead over Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as counting of votes for Gujarat assembly elections got underway. Early reports from counting centres, collated by PTI showed the BJP was ahead in 15 seats. At the same time, the Congress appeared headed for a distant 2nd spot in the 3-way contest precipitated by the entry of the AAP into the poll arena of the western state. The Congress was seen leading in 5 seats and the AAP was ahead in a seat.
The Election Commission of India website showed BJP leading in 3 seats, Congress in 2, and AAP in one seat.
