Elon Musk's India Visit Deferred: What's Really Keeping Him Away?
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the postponement of his planned visit to India, citing "very heavy Tesla obligations" as the reason. Musk, who leads both Tesla and SpaceX, was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit and unveil investment plans for his companies. Although Musk expressed disappointment over the delay, he assured that he eagerly anticipates visiting India later this year.
Last week, Musk had expressed enthusiasm about meeting Prime Minister Modi in India, leading to speculations that he might arrive in the country on April 21. However, his visit had to be rescheduled due to pressing commitments related to Tesla. Despite the setback, Musk reiterated his keenness to engage with Indian officials and explore business opportunities in the country.
Musk's visit to India was expected to facilitate breakthroughs for Tesla and Starlink, his satellite internet venture. With India witnessing a surge in domestic demand, Musk aimed to capitalize on the market potential. Additionally, Starlink is poised to receive initial approvals to operate in India, following recent changes in the country's foreign direct investment policy in the space sector. This move aims to attract offshore investors and promote liberalization in the industry.
