Flipkart increases its presence in Telangana with a new fulfilment centre.
By opening a new distribution centre in Sangareddy, India's biggest online store, Flipkart has increased its presence in Telangana and improved its supply chain infrastructure.
The facility will help transport and handle a wide range of products, like furniture and large equipment, sold by thousands of local sellers and MSMEs in Telangana, giving them access to a national market. The distribution centre, which is 4 lakh square feet, will show how committed Flipkart is to the growth of digital commerce in India by giving local sellers, young people looking for work, and clients more power and making e-commerce more open and approachable.
Flipkart said that its supply chain operations have helped Telangana's economy grow by creating more than 40,000 direct and indirect jobs.
With the help of the company's e-commerce platform, more than 14,000 sellers in the state have been able to join the main economy and meet the growing needs of consumers in the country.
K. T. Rama Rao, the minister for industry in Telangana, almost opened the delivery centre from Hyderabad. Jayesh Ranjan, who works for the government of Telangana and is in charge of industry and trade, and Kalyan Krishnamurthy, who is in charge of Flipkart Group, were also there.
Some of the most important investments Flipkart has made in Telangana are the six distribution centres where millions of goods, like home appliances, furniture, big appliances, and groceries, are stored and shipped. The state has close to 100 delivery hubs, creating more than 40,000 jobs.
About 5,000 kiranas in Telangana are also part of Flipkart's Kirana Delivery program. They make lakhs of deliveries, which helps them make more money. Last year, Flipkart made an MoU with the Society for the Elimination of Rural Poverty to help Farmer Producer Organizations and Self-Help Groups in Telangana access markets and grow to sell their goods to Flipkart's customers all over India.
Flipkart has a green data centre in the state driven by renewable energy. This improves the technology infrastructure and shows how hard the company is working to build a sustainable value chain.
Minister KTR said at the event that Flipkart could set a good example for the rest of the country by taking care of its gig workers.
We should make sure they feel safe and that their homes, jobs, and families are safe. Our job is to ensure they aren't harmed by things that aren't in their power. We should help young people believe in the e-commerce industry and want to work there. "Let's make a unique model that says something about Telangana," he said.
He offered a plan where the government, e-commerce companies, marketing providers and partners work together to protect the gig workers' incomes.
He said Telangana's central location makes it a great place to become a logistics hub, where services and goods can be spread to the eight states surrounding it and a link between the North and the South.
KTR also suggested that the company use women's self-help groups to hire more women and give people in rural areas better ways to make a living.
