For The First Time In Five Years, India Moved Up In The FIFA And Reached The Top 100
The Indian Football Team moved up one spot, from 101 to 100, in the current FIFA Men's World Rankings, which were released on Thursday.
The Blue Tigers scored in the top 100 for the first time in five years. The last time they were at position 97 in 2018.
India moved up to 101 places in the FIFA Rankings in April. After being undefeated in the Intercontinental Cup and the SAFF Championships in June, they have earned 4.24 points, which have enabled them to move up into the top 100.
India has been playing well lately and hasn't lost since they were defeated by Vietnam in the 2022 VFF Tri-Nation Series 0-3.
In 2023, they have won seven out of nine games, and have drawn twice lately, one against Kuwait in the ongoing SAFF Championship and one against Lebanon in the Hero Intercontinental Cup. This year, the men of Igor Stimac have also gathered two victories, the Tri-Nation Series and the Intercontinental Cup.
India has also scored 15 goals and held eight straight clean sheets in the nine games since the defeat to Vietnam in September 2022, setting a new national record.
Sunil Chhetri and Co. are hoping to maintain their unbeaten streak as they encounter Lebanon in the SAFF Championship semi-finals on Saturday.
