Former Education Official Faces Probe Over Alleged Misconduct and Abuse
In a significant move, Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh assured the Legislative Council on Wednesday that swift action would be taken against former Kadapa Regional Joint Director (Education), Raghava Reddy, following a detailed inquiry to be concluded within 45 days.
Responding to questions posed by MLCs Bhumireddy Ramgopal Reddy, Duvvarapu Rama Rao, and B. Tirumala Naidu, the Minister disclosed that the State government had received multiple complaints accusing Raghava Reddy of serious misconduct. A preliminary investigation has already corroborated many of these allegations.
Highlighting the severity of the claims, MLC Bhumireddy accused the former official of abusing his authority, citing instances of objectionable behavior. Raghava Reddy allegedly used derogatory language against teachers, humiliated them in front of students, and orchestrated transfers to punish those who spoke out. In some cases, he reportedly resorted to physical assaults on complainants.
The investigation, spearheaded by Additional Director Prasanna Kumar, has brought these allegations to the forefront. A formal complaint against Raghava Reddy has also been filed with the Chinna Chowk police station in Kadapa.
Demanding strict action, MLC Bhumireddy called for a thorough probe, stating, “Such individuals tarnish the reputation of the Education Department and must be removed from positions of respect.”
As the inquiry progresses, all eyes are on the HRD Ministry to deliver justice and ensure accountability in the education system.
