Former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav Passes Away At 82

Samajwadi Party patriarch and former CM of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav today passed away at the age of 82 after long illness.
Mr. Mulayam was undergoing treatment at Gurugram's Medanta Hospital. Yesterday, the hospital said that he is on life saving drugs, and being treated in the ICU by "a comprehensive team of specialists".
The former UP CM was admitted in the hospital for the treatment and shifted to the ICU when his condition worsened.
A prominent leader of Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh Yadav was born on November 22, 1939. Besides serving as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh thrice, he was also Minister of Defence in the Union Government.
In the 1970s, Mulayam Singh Yadav rose to power in Uttar Pradesh politics as the founder of the Samajwadi Party (SP). He was elected 10 times as MLA and 7 times as Lok Sabha MP.
In July this year, the Samajwadi Party patriarch's wife Sadhna Gupta passed away. Sadhana Gupta was Mulayam Singh Yadav's 2nd wife. His first wife, Maalti Devi passed away in 2003. Maalti Devi was the mother of Akhilesh Yadav.
