From Cheetahs to Sewa Pakhwada: Modi’s Unconventional Birthday Celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turns 75 on September 17, 2025, continues his tradition of marking birthdays through public service and national initiatives rather than private celebrations. This year, the BJP has launched a two-week campaign called Sewa Pakhwada, highlighting the Prime Minister’s focus on social welfare and development.
Across the country, states and party organizations are organizing activities to honor Modi’s milestone. In Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate 15 health-related projects, while Kartavya Path will host a “Thank You Modiji” event with a blood donation camp and exhibition. Odisha plans a massive plantation drive with 75 lakh saplings under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative. Uttar Pradesh will launch a nutrition program for women and girls, alongside a Kaushal Mahotsav providing appointment letters to 7,500 candidates. Pune will host a drone show highlighting Modi’s achievements over 11 years in office.
Modi’s birthdays have consistently been used as platforms to launch impactful initiatives. In 2024, he inaugurated major projects in Odisha and launched SUBHADRA, a women-focused scheme. In 2023, he rolled out the PM Vishwakarma Yojana for artisans and inaugurated the India International Convention Centre in Delhi. His 2022 birthday saw cheetahs reintroduced into Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park, while in 2021, India administered a record 2.26 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses in a single day.
Whether through environmental initiatives, welfare schemes, or health programs, Modi has transformed his birthdays into national events that combine service with symbolism, reinforcing his image as a leader dedicated to the people.
