Following the announcement of poll dates in five states by the Election Commission, the initial opinion polls in Telangana favoured Congress, while the subsequent polls predicted a hung House and a hat-trick for BRS. In actuality, however, has the time come for BRS to become TRS? Is the moment come for Congress? Has the BJP wasted any time?
Since independence in 1947, the Congress had held power in Karnataka. Kerala and Tamil Nadu are two additional southern states characterised by frequent power changes in which the ruling party is seldom re-elected, with the exception of a recent incident involving incumbent Chief Minister Jayalalithaa who returned to office after an extended absence. Similarly, PinarayiVijayan, who represents the Left Democratic Front, has been in office since 2016.
