Heatwave Alert: APSDMA Warns of Sweltering Conditions in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued a stern warning regarding an imminent heatwave set to impact 130 mandals across the state, with one mandal facing an intense heatwave.
Revealing the details, R Kurmanadh, the managing director of APSDMA, disclosed that among the affected mandals, 19 each are located in Vizianagaram and Nandyala districts, while 14 are in NTR, 13 in Anakapalli, and 12 in Parvathipuram Manyam district. These regions are anticipated to bear the brunt of the heatwave.
According to APSDMA's forecast, Komarada in Parvathipuram Manyam district is slated to witness scorching temperatures of up to 44 degrees Celsius, with other areas expected to hover around 42 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, Tadipatri in Anantapuram district, Markapuram in Prakasam district, and Nandikotkuru in Nandyala district have already recorded temperatures reaching 43.3 degrees Celsius.
Kurmanadh emphasized the importance of taking precautionary measures, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. He urged people to remain indoors during peak hours, stay adequately hydrated, and adopt measures to prevent dehydration as the heatwave sweeps through the region.
As temperatures soar, it becomes crucial for citizens to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and seek shelter in cooler environments. APSDMA advises residents to wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, use sunscreen, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours. Additionally, staying informed about weather updates and heeding the advice of local authorities can greatly contribute to staying safe during this period of extreme heat.
