Historic Moment for Andhra Pradesh: Usha Vance Poised to Become America’s First Indian-American Second Lady
In a celebration of cultural pride and heritage, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu congratulated JD Vance on his recent victory as the U.S. Vice President-elect, a result that sets the stage for Usha Chilukuri Vance, Vance’s wife, to become the Second Lady of the United States. Naidu hailed this as a "historic moment" for the Telugu community worldwide, as Usha will be the first woman of Telugu heritage to hold this esteemed position.
Usha Vance, 38, has ancestral roots in Andhra Pradesh; her family’s village, Vadluru, is nestled near the picturesque Godavari town of Tanuku in the West Godavari district, about 35 kilometers from Bhimavaram. Naidu expressed deep pride in this achievement, sharing his joy with the Telugu community in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "Usha’s role as America’s Second Lady is a moment of immense pride for Telugus across the globe."
Additionally, the Chief Minister extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on winning the U.S. presidential election and expressed optimism for further strengthening Indo-U.S. relations under his leadership. Highlighting the significant progress made during Trump's first tenure, Naidu conveyed his confidence that the partnership between India and the U.S. will flourish with renewed vigor, bolstered by leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Naidu also expressed his eagerness to invite JD and Usha Vance to visit Andhra Pradesh, envisioning an inspiring connection between her heritage and her future role as Second Lady.
