I am the ‘Mother of Telangana’: Sonia Gandhi

Sonia Gandhi, for the first time, visited Telangana after the bifurcation in 2014. In a public meeting held at Medchal near Hyderabad, she said that Congress sacrificed its political career for Telangana.

As a part of promotion for upcoming elections and a public meeting was held by Congress in which Sonia explained how they struggled to achieve separate Telangana state and how TRS ruined it by failing to fulfill the promises they have done at the time of separation.

Sonia called herself as a ‘Mother of Telangana’ who feels happy to be in Telangana just as a mother would feel happy to see her child after a long gap.

She explained that every mother wants to see her child happy but she was feeling sad by seeing the condition of Telangana.

If a newborn is not taken care in the initial days, he has to face a lot of problems in the future. Unfortunately, the responsibility of taking care of a child was given to a wrong person, Sonia explained.

Saying that elections are an opportunity to get what they want, Sonia asked people to teach TRS a lesson by voting Congress and its alliance.She also said that she felt the pain of Andhra Pradesh at the time of separation, and promised for a special status. ‘We will keep our word’, she added.

TRS failed to live up to the expectations, said Sonia recalling that Telangana was achieved on the slogan of "water, funds and jobs" People felt they would get good lives after the formation of Telangana, but there is no change in common people lives, she said.

Rahul Gandhi said that KCR ruled for five years without thinking about the people, without mentioning KCR’s name directly. The government of alliance won’t work for a single person but for everyone. It speaks and solves the problems of farmers and youth employment, Rahul ended.
