IndiGo Flight Status Today: Chaos Continues as Over 50 Flights Cancelled Across Major Cities
Operational disruptions at IndiGo continue as the airline cancelled more than 50 flights across major Indian cities on Wednesday, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. This comes a day after nearly 172 flights were cancelled nationwide, causing widespread inconvenience to passengers.
In a travel advisory issued today, IndiGo attributed the ongoing disruptions partly to winter fog conditions in Northern India, which can slow down flight movements, particularly during early morning hours. The airline urged passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport to avoid unnecessary delays.
“As winter sets in, early mornings across Northern India can bring fog that may occasionally slow down flight movements. We wanted to share this gentle heads-up in advance, so you can plan with ease,” IndiGo said in its advisory. The airline added that its teams are closely monitoring weather conditions and making operational adjustments wherever possible to minimise passenger inconvenience.
Several flights from busy airports such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad were impacted, leaving travellers stranded or forced to reschedule their journeys. IndiGo assured passengers that ground teams are working to ensure waiting times remain as comfortable as possible.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) said the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reviewed the preparedness of airlines for fog-related disruptions. The DGCA has instructed all regional and sub-regional offices to remain vigilant, continuously monitor weather forecasts, and ensure airlines comply with standard operating procedures.
Officials have also been directed to monitor passenger inconvenience closely and ensure airlines discharge their responsibilities under existing civil aviation regulations. Any instances of non-compliance, the ministry warned, would be reported immediately.
Passengers have been advised to stay updated through official airline channels as winter-related disruptions are expected to persist in the coming weeks.
