India-Pakistan Tensions Ease as PM Modi Chairs High-Level Meeting

Following days of high tension between India and Pakistan, marked by cross-border shelling and drone attacks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crucial high-level security meeting ahead of Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks. The move comes as both nations agreed to a temporary halt in hostilities.
The ceasefire has already led to the resumption of flight operations at Chandigarh Airport, which had been suspended amid the conflict. Officials from the airport and Mohali administration confirmed that civil flights resumed from 10:30 AM on May 12.
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Poonch to meet families affected by shelling. Meanwhile, BJP MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for calling a special Parliament session despite frequently skipping key debates.
BJP MP Sambit Patra praised the Indian Armed Forces for “Operation Sindoor,” which was launched in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. He said the operation was beyond Pakistan’s expectations and fulfilled PM Modi’s vow to “avenge” the attack.
Patra described the military response as “unprecedented,” and said that India’s armed forces demonstrated exceptional courage. All three DGMOs briefed the nation, underscoring the precision and success of the operation.
