Indian-Origin Man Shot Dead in Suspected Road Rage Incident in Indiana
A 29-year-old Indian-origin man was fatally shot in what is believed to be a road rage incident in Indiana, US. Gavin Dasaur, who recently married his Mexican wife Viviana ZaMora, was on his way home when the shooting occurred.
According to the Indianapolis Police Department (IMPD), officers responded to a shooting report just after 8 pm on Tuesday at an intersection on the southeast side of Indianapolis. They found Dasaur, identified by his wife, lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds. ZaMora described the harrowing moment, stating she held her husband as he bled out while waiting for emergency services.
Dasaur, originally from Agra, and ZaMora were married on June 29, just over two weeks before his death. Witnesses reported that the altercation began as a road rage incident between Dasaur, driving a black Honda, and another driver in a Chevy truck. The suspected shooter was detained at the scene but later released after police and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office suggested the possibility of self-defense.
The IMPD is continuing its investigation into the shooting. ZaMora, mourning her husband's death, condemned the violence, describing Dasaur as a dedicated and helpful individual.
Cell phone footage from the scene shows Dasaur exiting his car and confronting the driver of the pickup truck while holding a handgun. The video captures Dasaur's aggressive behavior as he approaches the truck, ultimately leading to the driver firing three shots, with Dasaur collapsing immediately afterward. The shooter remained inside the vehicle throughout the brief confrontation.
