Iran drone strike on Kuwait airport
Kuwait’s main international airport was targeted in a drone strike on Wednesday, reportedly launched by Iran, resulting in a large fire in fuel storage facilities. Authorities confirmed that while the damage was significant, no casualties were reported.
According to Kuwait’s civil aviation authority, drones struck fuel tanks at the airport, igniting a major blaze. Officials described the attack as a direct act of aggression, linking it to Iran and allied armed groups operating in the region. Emergency teams were deployed quickly to contain the fire and prevent further damage to critical infrastructure.
The incident is part of a broader escalation across the Gulf region following the outbreak of conflict on February 28. Since then, Iran has launched a series of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and U.S.-aligned countries. These actions have heightened fears of a wider regional war.
Elsewhere on the same day, Bahrain reported a fire at a commercial site, which authorities attributed to Iranian actions. Saudi Arabia also confirmed intercepting and destroying several drones aimed at its territory, highlighting the scale of aerial threats.
In nearby waters, a tanker off the coast of Qatar was struck by an unidentified projectile, causing structural damage. Maritime officials confirmed that the crew remained safe and there was no environmental impact, though investigations are ongoing.
The growing number of attacks underscores the vulnerability of key infrastructure and trade routes in the Gulf. With multiple countries now affected, concerns are rising about the safety of aviation, shipping, and energy supplies.
As tensions continue to escalate, regional governments are increasing defensive measures while calling for international intervention to prevent further destabilization.
