Israel Intensifies Airstrikes on Iran and Lebanon as Regional War Escalates
The conflict involving Israel, Iran and the United States has escalated sharply, with intense airstrikes reported in the capitals of both Iran and Lebanon.
Israel’s military confirmed that it launched a large wave of strikes targeting military installations in Tehran. Witnesses reported powerful explosions across the city, while additional attacks were recorded in Kermanshah, an Iranian region known for its missile bases.
The US military also joined the campaign by targeting an Iranian drone carrier identified as IRIS Shahid Bagheri. Officials said the vessel was struck and set ablaze during the operation.
Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes targeting several Gulf nations hosting US forces, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait. Air defence systems in these countries reportedly intercepted most of the incoming attacks.
The conflict has already caused significant casualties across the region. Officials report more than 1,200 deaths in Iran, over 120 in Lebanon and several fatalities in Israel. Six US soldiers have also been killed.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that military operations could intensify further in the coming days. According to US officials, strikes have focused mainly on Iran’s military infrastructure and nuclear facilities.
Iranian diplomats, however, have rejected claims that Tehran is seeking negotiations, stating that trust in Washington has been severely damaged following previous failed nuclear talks.
