K Kavitha Launches ‘Telangana Rashtra Sena’, Targets Political Change
K. Kavitha has officially launched a new political party, the Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), marking a significant shift in Telangana’s political landscape. The announcement comes months after her departure from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by her father K. Chandrashekar Rao.
At a public event in Hyderabad attended by hundreds of supporters, Kavitha unveiled her party with a strong message of change. She emphasized that the Telangana Rashtra Sena would focus on achieving “Sarvodaya Telangana,” meaning inclusive and holistic development for all sections of society.
Taking to social media, Kavitha declared, “Your time is done, our time is now,” signaling a direct challenge to existing political forces. She stated that nearly 95 percent of the party’s efforts would be dedicated to addressing issues within Telangana, with a particular emphasis on empowering women and marginalized communities.
Kavitha had earlier announced her intention to form a new party in March, citing dissatisfaction with the current political environment. She has been actively engaging with grassroots issues through her organization, Telangana Jagruthi, since her suspension from the BRS in September 2025. Her fallout with the party involved serious allegations against senior leaders, including her cousins, and criticism of governance practices.
The new party is expected to contest the next Telangana Assembly elections, likely in 2028. Analysts believe Kavitha’s entry could reshape regional politics by attracting disillusioned voters seeking alternatives. Her campaign is expected to focus on governance reforms, transparency, and social welfare.
