KCR Feels Muslims are EBCs, Not Hindu Upper Castes
TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to convert PM Narendra Modi’s 10 percent reservations for Economically Backward Classes (EBCs) into BC-E quota in Telangana.
Sources say that KCR is seriously thinking of converting BC-E quota into EBC in Telangana. Late YSR government introduced BC-E quota for Muslims in undivided AP and the present TRS government is providing that 4 percent reservations in Telangana.
But KCR wanted to increase that 4 percent to 12 percent and passed an act in Assembly in April 2017 which is still awaiting center’s approval. But now Modi government passed an Act in Parliament giving 10 percent reservations to EBCs and made it clear that the quota can be given to anyone irrespective of the religion.
Now, KCR wants to grab this opportunity to convert 10 percent EBC quota into BC-E quota by amending TS Reservation Act in the coming Budget session of Assembly, thereby fulfilling his promise to increase reservations to Muslims.
