KCR Requests Modi To Extend The 21 Day Lockdown Period

Today, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao addressed the media and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider the extension of a nationwide 21-day lockdown period. He also stated that our country may not be able to handle if the situation escalates due to the lockdown being hastily lifted. CM has appealed to extend the lockdown for two more weeks after the current 21 lockdown period, which ends on April 15.
KCR said that "The reason the country is saved and has seen very few cases is because of lockdown. A country like India has to be very careful otherwise it will become out of control and we have no other option except to obey the lockdown. The economy is getting hurt and we are spending a lot of money. At least we have to thank that we are not seeing deaths like Italy, Spain, and the US."
He also said that he was in constant touch with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, and said that, "I told the Prime Minister that the lockdown should be extended and at least some of the restrictions should stay for a bit more time. Otherwise, India will not be able to handle things."
He further added that the country can recover from an economic problem but we cannot recover lives. “In a country like India with a lot of working force and with poor infrastructure, the only way to keep it in control for us is a lockdown. I appeal to the Government of India and PM to extend the lockdown without hesitation, consult CM's of all states, through video conferencing, am sure something positive will come out.”
CM Confirmed that a total of 364 people have tested positive for COVID - 19 in Telangana as of Monday, out of those, 308 are undergoing treatment in Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Hyderabad.
He also said, that out of the 25,937 people who were kept under quarantine, 50 had tested positive. Of those 50 who tested positive, 30 were foreign returnees and 20 are primary contacts, mostly from their family members.
“As they were treated from an early-stage, not a single person from this has died thankfully,35 people out of 50 people, have been already discharged and by Wednesday, the remaining 15 people will be discharged. They are all healthy and this was the first batch,” he added.
2,000 odd people are left in quarantine right now and by April 9, all of them will be discharged, said KCR. The state has so far identified 1,089 people who attended the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin, Delhi.
“There are 172 positive cases among them who went to the event, all 11 deaths in the state are connected to Nizamuddin, that may be either direct or their contacts. Another 93 members, who were contact cases of these people also tested positive and there are both Hindus and Muslims in this figure,” said KCR.
