KTR Remembers Janardhan Reddy’s Legacy, Highlights Role in Bringing Krishna Water to Hyderabad
BRS working president KT Rama Rao paid rich tributes to veteran Congress leader and former minister P. Janardhan Reddy on his 18th death anniversary, recalling his lasting impact on Hyderabad’s political and developmental history. Addressing party leaders and supporters after garlanding Janardhan Reddy’s statue at Khairatabad junction, Rama Rao described him as a visionary mass leader who shaped the city’s politics for nearly five decades.
Rama Rao highlighted Janardhan Reddy’s fearless political approach, noting that he was among the rare leaders who openly questioned his own Congress government when public interest was at stake. He particularly recalled the late leader’s relentless struggle to bring Krishna River water to Hyderabad, calling it a historic contribution that transformed the city’s water security.
The BRS leader said Janardhan Reddy would have taken pride in the development Hyderabad witnessed after the formation of Telangana. He credited the BRS government, under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, with fulfilling the late leader’s vision through major infrastructure projects, welfare initiatives, and urban expansion.
Calling upon younger leaders to emulate Janardhan Reddy’s dedication, Rama Rao said the veteran politician remained committed to public service until his last breath. He also praised Janardhan Reddy’s son and former MLA Vishnuvardhan Reddy for continuing his father’s ideals. In particular, he lauded the development of the Jubilee Hills Peddamma Temple, stating that it reflected public sentiment and cultural heritage.
Several senior BRS leaders attended the programme, including former ministers Ch. Malla Reddy and V. Srinivas Goud, MLAs Mutha Gopal and Bandaru Lakshma Reddy, MLC Dasoju Shravan, Maganti Sunitha Gopinath, corporators, and party workers, all of whom paid their respects to the late leader.
