KTR Slams Congress Over ‘Failure’ to Uphold Ambedkar’s Ideals
BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing it of failing to honor the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and reducing his legacy to mere political rhetoric. Speaking during Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations at Telangana Bhavan, he alleged that the Congress has historically undermined Ambedkar’s contributions and continues to neglect his vision.
Rama Rao criticized the current Congress government in Telangana for not delivering on key welfare promises made in Ambedkar’s name. He highlighted that schemes like Dalit Bandhu, introduced under the previous BRS government, aimed to empower marginalized communities by providing financial support for entrepreneurship. He accused the Congress of diluting such initiatives despite earlier promises to expand them.
He also pointed to the unfulfilled SC-ST Declaration, stating that commitments related to reservations, student support, and contract allocations for marginalized groups remain unimplemented. According to him, this reflects a lack of genuine commitment to social justice.
The BRS leader further alleged a decline in welfare infrastructure, claiming that residential schools established during the BRS tenure are now suffering due to neglect. He also criticized the discontinuation of overseas scholarship programs, which he said had previously benefited students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Rama Rao condemned restrictions on public access to the Ambedkar memorial in Hyderabad, calling it an act of political vendetta and disrespect. He credited BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao for embedding Ambedkar’s philosophy into governance and for supporting Telangana’s statehood movement.
Calling for renewed political action, Rama Rao urged party workers to take the message to the grassroots and hold the Congress accountable, emphasizing the need to revive Ambedkar’s vision of equality and empowerment.
