KTR Slams Congress, Predicts Defeat in Upcoming Telangana By-elections
BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, accusing it of deceiving every section of society in just 22 months of rule. Speaking to the national media on Tuesday, he said the Revanth Reddy-led government had failed to deliver even a single promise made before elections.
KTR criticized the recent bus fare hike, calling it an “anti-people” decision and accusing the government of offsetting the costs of the Mahalakshmi free travel scheme by burdening commuters. He also alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was paving the way for RTC privatisation under the pretext of introducing electric buses, terming it a “pro-contractor” move.
Highlighting the Congress’s failure in urban development, KTR said Hyderabad had seen no new roads or bridges in 22 months. “This government has failed in even basic urban governance,” he said. Referring to the Jubilee Hills by-election, he expressed confidence that people would restore their trust in BRS, asserting, “The mood across Telangana is clear. People want KCR back.”
On the Jubilee Hills Muslim burial ground controversy, KTR reminded that the previous BRS government had already allocated 125 acres each for Muslim and Christian cemeteries in 2022. He ridiculed the Congress for seeking credit over a disputed 2,500 sq. yd. plot.
He further warned that rising inflation, bus fare hikes, and unfulfilled guarantees had angered middle-class families. “People are ready to teach the Congress a lesson in the upcoming elections,” he declared, emphasizing that the BRS’s grassroots support remained strong despite the Congress’s attempts to discredit the opposition.
