KTR asks officials to pay attention to cleanliness and providing clean water.
As the rains started to let up in the state, the Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao, told municipal officials to start working with the health department in all ULBs to make sure there were no water-borne diseases and to make sure that rain-affected areas had safe drinking water.
On Saturday, the Minister talked with Municipal Commissioners through a phone call. When you look at the situation, especially the flooded streets, it should be a challenge to help. Relief activities should be carried out with the help of other line departments. He said that the State Government would help the ULBs in any way it could.
Several ULB have water bodies and tanks that are almost full to the top. This means that water levels should be checked often. The Minister said that if needed, the irrigation department's rules say that water should be sent downstream and people living in low-lying areas should be moved to safer places.
