KTR demands the rehabilitation of demolition victims who were soaked by rain while living in two-bedroom homes.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday denounced the Revanth Reddy government for its "merciless" actions, saying that it was infringing on the rights of the impoverished. Rao was incensed over the continuous demolition of impoverished people's homes in Hyderabad amid torrential rains, which has left many of them helpless in the bad weather. He claimed that the Congress was denying the impoverished shelter while promising a people's government only for its namesake.
Rama Rao highlighted the predicament of the homeowners whose homes were demolished during torrential rains by sharing videos of the people who were left homeless after the demolitions and standing soaked in the rain with nowhere to go.
These are the underprivileged individuals whose homes were destroyed by the Revanth Reddy administration. In the midst of a deluge of rain, a callous government destroyed homes, forcing the unfortunate occupants to take refuge under plastic covers," he said.
He attacked the government for tearing down impoverished people's houses while turning a blind eye to their terrible situation. He recalled that approximately 40,000 double-bedroom houses were built by the previous BRS government and pleaded with Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari to see to it that those houses were distributed right away to stop more suffering. "Develop a humane policy for rehabilitation and ensure that all citizens receive due process under the law," he continued.
RS Praveen Kumar, the leader of BRS, also expressed his profound sadness for the situation facing the displaced families. "I cry when I see how these poor people are suffering. Build them houses somewhere else first, and then destroy these structures if they truly had encroached upon the water bodies and were residing there. The rich and the poor cannot receive different forms of justice. How just is this?" he enquired. He warned that Revanth Reddy would pay for his actions as a child who grew up in such slums.
Dasoju Sravan, the leader of the BRS, also criticized the government's actions, calling them "anarchy" and "dumb leadership."
He pointed out that the administration was demolishing people's property without following the proper legal channels, and he criticized them for enacting a bulldozer regime. He said, "The Chief Minister is engaging in the politics of intimidation to make himself look like a hero in the name of protecting water bodies—that is, without a comprehensive discussion, long-term thinking, or a concrete plan."
