KTR has requested that Priyanka Gandhi's visit to Telangana be used as a learning opportunity about the state's progress.
Hyderabad: BRS Working President and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao called Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi's planned visit to the city to address the "Yuva Sangharsh Sabha" "political tourism," he said, urging Gandhi to instead use the trip as a "educational tour" to learn about the progress Telangana has made under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Hyderabad is becoming a modern, multicultural metropolis. Lakhs of visitors go there every year. Political visitors, such as Delhi's Priyanka Gandhi, are also welcomed, according to Rama Rao.
He argued that Priyanka Gandhi, who would be holding a public meeting to announce a declaration for the unemployed about what the Congress would do if elected in Telangana, should instead inform the people of Telangana of the number of posts filled by her party's government in the former Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Rao.
Priyanka Gandhi would benefit from learning more about the steps being taken by the government of Telangana to help its young people find work. "I suggest she turn her political tour into an education tour so that she can know about the various achievements Telangana has made over the last nine years," he said.
Rama Rao harshly criticised State Congress officials for inciting the unemployed youth, claiming that the Congress has failed dismally to create jobs in the former Andhra Pradesh. When asked, "How many open positions in the former AP were filled by Congress via APPSC?" he posed the question.
The BRS Working President further suggested that Priyanka Gandhi independently verify the claims made by local Congress leaders regarding the efficiency of the BRS government.
Women in Telangana have not forgotten the long distances they had to travel to get water during the Congress rule, and Priyanka Gandhi should keep this in mind. "We will stand by CM KCR who quenched the thirst of the people through Mission Bhagiratha," he declared.
