Kamal Nath resigned; ‘Truth has won again’: JyotiradityaScindia

The CM of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath resigned from the top post on Friday. His move comes a day after the Supreme Court directed that a floor test be conducted in MP assembly to prove that the Congress government led by him enjoys the majority in the House following the rebellion by 22 MLAs of his party.
CM of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath submitted his resignation to governor LaljiTandon at the Raj Bhawan here this afternoon. In his resignation letter, Kamal Nath said, "In my 40-year- long public life, I have always done politics of purity valuing democratic norms. But what transpired in the last 2-weeks is a new chapter of a devaluation of democratic values.”
In the letter, Nath also congratulated the new CM of the state and said he will also extend help in the development of the state. Before submitting his resignation, Kamal Nath addressed a press conference, where he announced his resignation.
During the press conference, Nath accused the BJP of killing the democratic values by conspiring against his government. He also blamed former Congress leader JyotiradityaScindia for the current political crisis in the MP state.
Nath said, "I took over as the CM on December 17, 2018. During my political career, I have always believed in development. I was allowed for 5 years to give a new identity to the state,”
"The BJP didn't like the people-centric works carried out by our government, so they kept conspiring against me," he further added.
Nath alleged that 22 Congress MLAs were held captive in Bengaluru by the BJP that has been witnessed by the entire nation.
"I have proved my majority on the floor of the House several times during the past 15 years. But the BJP deceived the people of the MP state by destabilizing the government. And BJP is afraid of the success of my government" he said.
Blaming Scindia for the ongoing political crisis in the state, Nath said: "BJP colluded with Scindia for killing my government and democracy.”
Earlier this month, JyotiradityaScindia quit the Congress and joined the BJP. 22 Congress MLAs, who were loyal to him, had rebelled and resigned also.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court had ordered the MP assembly speaker to conduct a floor test by 5 pm.
After Speaker NP Prajapati accepted the resignation of 16 rebel Congress legislators on Thursday night, the Kamal Nath government was reduced to the minority with 92-MLAs in the 230-members house and others 6 resignations had been already accepted earlier.
Similarly, the strength of the house also reduced to 222, trimming down the majority mark to 104. So, the BJP has the majority mark with 107.
On Friday morning, the speaker said that he has accepted the resignation of BJP MLA SharadKol (Beohari). But, MLA SharadKol said that he had applied for withdrawing the resignation submitted earlier. This has further reduced the number of BJP MLAs to 106, but well above the majority mark in current strength.
Contrarily, On Nath resignation, JyotiradityaScindia tweeted. “People have won today in Madhya Pradesh. I have always believed that politics should be the medium of public service, but the state government had deviated from this path. Truth has won again. SatyamevaJayate,”
