Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu Announces Major Airport Expansion in Andhra Pradesh
Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has unveiled ambitious plans to construct new airports in Andhra Pradesh, with locations set in Orvakallu, Dagdarthi, Nagarjunasagar, and Kuppam. During an address in Vizianagaram, Naidu also mentioned that similar infrastructure developments are planned for Telangana, highlighting a nationwide push to enhance aviation facilities.
Naidu emphasized the transformative potential of the Bhogapuram Airport, which he believes could significantly alter the landscape of the Uttarandhra region. He expressed optimism about the project's progress, noting that the airport is expected to commence operations by June 2026. As of now, 36.6% of the construction has been completed, and Naidu committed to expediting the work through regular monthly reviews.
The minister credited the success of the Udan scheme for the rapid expansion of India’s aviation sector, asserting that it has positioned the country as a global leader in the industry. Naidu reaffirmed the government's dedication to accelerating airport projects across the nation, stressing that improved connectivity will be vital for driving economic growth.
