Liquor Outlets To Remain Shut Ahead Of Local Body Elections In AP

The schedule for the Local body elections in Andhra Pradesh has already been released and the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure fair and safe polls in the elections.
The government has decided to stop the supply of liquor for a few days, for which the liquor stores will remain closed from March 12 to March 29. This is a very crucial decision taken by Jagan’s government to avoid the wrongdoings and malpractices in the elections.
Currently, The government-owned Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) takes over the liquor business in the state with over 475 liquor shops under it.
Minister Anil Kumar Yadav said that the initiative was taken to avoid bribing the voters in the name of Alcohol and money for the numbers in their polls. The polling will be held on March 21 for the MPTC seats while the elections for municipal, urban panchayats and corporations will be held on March 23.
Meanwhile, local body elections will be held in three phases in Andhra Pradesh where the municipal elections will be held in a single phase while Gram panchayat elections will be held in two phases. In the first phase, 660 ZPTC and 9,639 MPTC will be held in the first phase. In the third phase, there will be elections for municipalities.
