Lok Sabha Election 2024 Updates:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Lok Sabha Election 2024 campaign in Meerut, highlighting achievements like the Ram Temple and the abrogation of Article 370. Promising a focus on women's empowerment, he criticized the Congress over the Katchatheevu island issue and shared the stage with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) Chief Jayant Chaudhary, a recent NDA ally.
Meanwhile, the opposition showcased unity at the 'Loktantra Bachao' rally in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, condemning what they termed as the government's "dictatorial" actions and calling for alliance partners to unite. Concerns were raised over the arrests of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren.
In Maharashtra, the BJP core committee strategized for the elections, aiming to win over 45 out of 48 seats. They divided constituencies into clusters, focusing on unique issues in each area. Former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar took a swipe at Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, emphasizing BJP's confidence in securing all 10 seats in the state.
Modi, addressing party workers in Varanasi, accused the opposition bloc of relying on "corruption, nepotism, and appeasement" and criticized Rahul Gandhi's "fight against Shakti" remark. Meanwhile, Prakash Ambedkar's Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) declared 11 more candidates in Maharashtra, aiming to contest effectively.
In Kerala, Congress slammed the Left government over the acquittal of three RSS activists in a murder case, alleging a secret pact between CPI(M) and RSS. They demanded clarification from CM Pinarayi Vijayan, who vowed to challenge the verdict in court.
RLD President Jayant Chaudhary praised Modi at the Meerut rally, attributing former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh's Bharat Ratna to Modi's leadership. Additionally, Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) broke away from the opposition bloc to form a joint front with AIMIM, focusing on the interests of backward, Dalit, and minority communities.
As the political landscape heats up with alliances, accusations, and campaign launches, the stage is set for a fiercely contested Lok Sabha Election 2024.
