Lokesh Accuses YSRCP of Tirupati Laddoo Controversy, Calls for CBI Inquiry
Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh has accused the previous YSRCP government of using substandard ingredients and animal fat in the preparation of the famous Tirupati laddoos, supporting his claims with lab reports. Speaking to the media, Lokesh stated that a National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) report confirmed the adulteration, turning what were once allegations into verified facts.
“Chandrababu Naidu spoke based on facts, not allegations. The NDDB report clearly shows that adulteration occurred, and we won’t stop with just a CBI inquiry,” Lokesh said during a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) conference.
Lokesh further emphasized that Chief Minister Naidu is considering ordering a full CBI probe into the issue, as well as implementing structural changes to prevent such incidents in the future. He expressed deep disappointment, noting that previous Chief Ministers had never compromised the sanctity of Sri Venkateswara Temple.
“It’s heartbreaking. We, too, worship Sri Venkateswara. The fact that animal fat might have been used in the laddoos is deeply troubling,” Lokesh added.
Looking ahead, the government plans to streamline the entire process at Tirumala, ensuring that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the autonomous body managing the temple, remains free from further controversy.
