Lokesh Slams Jagan Over TCS Claims, Highlights TDP's Development Achievements
On Friday, October 11, 2024, Andhra Pradesh's Human Resource Development and IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, took a direct shot at former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, challenging his role in bringing Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to the state. Speaking at the inauguration of the Simha Kia showroom in Kolanukonda near Mangalagiri, Lokesh pointed out that major investments, including TCS and the Lulu Group, were attracted during the Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) tenure from 2014 to 2019.
Lokesh called on Jagan to present the number of industries established and jobs created during his administration, contrasting it with the TDP’s track record of creating 8 lakh jobs by establishing 44,000 industries. He also mocked Jagan’s belief that his father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, was responsible for bringing Kia Motors to Andhra Pradesh, and sarcastically added, "Now, Jagan thinks he brought TCS to the State."
Lokesh reaffirmed the TDP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's commitment to balanced regional development, outlining plans to bring manufacturing industries to Rayalaseema and service industries to Uttarandhra. He also mentioned future projects, including an ESI hospital in Guntur, a new 100-bed hospital, and a water supply scheme for AIIMS Mangalagiri.
In response, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Maddila Gurumoorthy questioned Lokesh about the reduction of procedures covered under the Arogyashri healthcare scheme, claiming the number had dropped from 3,257 to 1,949. He also inquired if the scheme’s benefits had been extended to neighboring states.
These exchanges underscore the ongoing political tensions between the TDP and YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh as both parties vie for influence and claim credit for the state’s development.
