Lokesh Vows to Revamp Education System in Srikakulam
State IT and Human Resources Minister Nara Lokesh has promised to revamp the education system in Srikakulam, blaming the previous YSRCP government for its decline. During his visit, Lokesh highlighted that the number of students in government schools has dropped by nine lakh over the past five years due to poor management and neglect. He assured that the current administration is working on a detailed plan to strengthen government schools and reverse this trend.
Lokesh criticized the former government for leaving behind unpaid dues, including ₹2,500 crore for fee reimbursements and ₹200 crore for the supply of eggs and chickpeas in mid-day meals. He pledged to clear these debts and fix the education system that he claims was severely damaged.
To better understand the issues on the ground, Lokesh said he would dedicate one full day to inspecting schools during his district tours. He called on parents, teachers, and public representatives to join hands in providing basic facilities and improving the standards in government schools.
He also spoke about the ‘red book’ initiative, which is aimed at investigating corruption and irregularities in universities that, according to him, were turned into political havens under the previous government. Lokesh made it clear that those who violated the law would be held accountable, despite criticisms of the initiative.
Wrapping up his visit, Lokesh reaffirmed his commitment to restoring the quality and credibility of the state’s education system and urged the community to support the government’s efforts.
