Manobala, a well-known actor and director, has died.
Veteran actor-director Manobala died today (May 3) in Chennai owing to liver difficulties, dealing a major blow to the Tamil cinema industry. According to sources, Manobala had been in poor condition for several months and had been receiving treatment for liver-related issues at his home for the past few weeks. The popular filmmaker's mortal remains will be interred at his home on the city's LV Prasad Road, Saligramam.
Manobala made his acting debut in 1979 with Bharathiraja's Puthiya Vaarpugal and went on to appear in over 450 films throughout the course of his 35-year career. Agaya Gangai, Pillai Nila, En Purusshanthaan Enakku Mattumthaan, Oorkaavalan, Karuppu Vellai, Paarambariyam, and Mallu Vetti Minor are among his directorial efforts.
