Massive Blaze at Kuwait Airport After Suspected Iranian Drone Strike
A major fire broke out at Kuwait’s primary aviation hub, Kuwait International Airport, following a suspected drone strike that targeted fuel storage facilities. The incident triggered an extensive emergency response and heightened tensions across the Gulf region, already strained by ongoing geopolitical conflicts.
Authorities confirmed that multiple drones struck key infrastructure within the airport premises, igniting fuel tanks and causing a massive blaze. Dramatic visuals shared online showed thick black smoke billowing into the sky as firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the inferno. According to Kuwait’s fire department, the flames were finally extinguished after nearly 58 hours of continuous firefighting efforts.
Despite the scale of destruction and damage to critical infrastructure, officials reported no casualties. However, the country’s Civil Aviation Authority acknowledged that the attack caused significant disruption, including damage to radar systems and operational facilities.
Government representatives attributed the strike to Iran and its allied proxy groups, accusing them of expanding their aerial offensive beyond Israel. The development marks a worrying escalation, with recent missile attacks reported toward Jerusalem and drone strikes occurring in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
The broader conflict has intensified across multiple fronts, with Israel conducting strikes in Iran and southern Lebanon, while Yemen’s Houthi rebels have launched missiles in support of Tehran. Meanwhile, global trade routes are also under threat, with disruptions reported at Oman’s Salalah port and rising concerns over oil shipments through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
