Massive Midnight Fire Destroys Furniture Shops in Bachupally
A devastating fire broke out late Monday night along the main road connecting Pragathi Nagar Kaman to Bachupally in Hyderabad, destroying several roadside furniture shops and causing heavy financial losses.
The blaze rapidly spread across temporary furniture outlets set up on open plots, reducing at least eight shops to ashes and partially damaging several others. The shops, primarily run by small traders, contained large quantities of wooden furniture and flammable materials, which intensified the fire.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, providing some relief amid the destruction. However, shop owners suffered losses worth lakhs of rupees, as their entire stock was gutted in the incident.
Officials noted that this was the second major fire in the area in recent times. Despite earlier warnings and requests from landowners to vacate the premises following a previous fire incident, many traders had continued operating from the same location.
Upon receiving alerts, fire department personnel rushed to the scene along with Hydraa and police officials. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before bringing the situation under control in the early hours of Tuesday.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary assessments suggest that the presence of combustible materials and closely packed temporary structures contributed to the rapid spread.
The incident has once again raised concerns about fire safety compliance and the risks associated with unauthorized roadside businesses in densely populated urban areas.
