Metro extension approved by Telangana Cabinet.
With the approval of new Metro Rail projects that connect different parts of the State capital, the State Cabinet has approved a huge plan to improve transportation at a cost of Rs 60,000 crore.
The important decision about the Hyderabad Metro Rail was made at a State Cabinet meeting that went over six hours. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said that the State was sure it would get help from the Central government for the planned Metro Rail development.
"If the Central doesn't help, we'll come up with the money ourselves. After 2024, there will be a joint government at the center, and BRS will be a key part of it," Rama Rao said, adding that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao wanted to make the city's transportation system the best in the country.
The Minister said that the Metro Rail would be expanded on all of the lines that connect Hyderabad to other parts of the country. Between Jubilee Bus Station and Tumkunta, on the Godavarikani path, the government wanted to build a Metro Rail track.
He said, "This will be a two-layer project, with the first layer for cars and the second layer for the Metro."
Route Patny-Kandlakoya
On the line from Adilabad to Nagpur, the Cabinet has given the go-ahead for the Metro to be extended from Patny station to the ORR at Kandlakoya. Since this increase concerned land that was used for defense, the State government would work with the Centre to get the land.
Miyapur to Isnapur
Between Isnapur and Miyapur, and then from Miyapur to Lakdikapul, was the other tunnel that needed to be built. The Metro would be stretched from LB Nagar to Pedda Amberpet on the route to Vijayawada, and from Uppal to Bibi Nagar on the route to Warangal. In addition to this, a Metro line would run between the ECIL junction and Uppal.
The Metro line would go from Shamshabad to Shadnagar via Kothur on the Bengaluru Highway. In addition to this, a second line would be built from Shamshabad to Kandukur. This was done so that people could get to the new Pharma City more quickly.
