Modi slams congress while inaugurating National War Memorial
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated National War Memorial (NWM) at the India Gate complex in New Delhi. The NWM was inaugurated in presence of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Addressing a large crowd containing many ex-servicemen from all the three forces, Modi paid tribute to all those who died in Pulwama attack and also all who sacrificed their lives for India. PM said, “India’s soldiers pick up the weapon to bring peace. The highest number of martyrs in peacekeeping forces are from India".
Modi said that the country had to wait for 70 years to get the NWM. He also slammed Congress by mentioning the Bofors to helicopter scams and said that it all pointed to only one family for which family comes first and not India.
He also mentioned that in the last 4 years 2.30 lakh bulletproof jackets have been purchased for the personnel of the armed forces and an order has been placed for 72,000 modern assault rifles.
NWM is the first memorial dedicated to soldiers of all three services of the Indian armed forces who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland during the wars.
