Naidu Thanks PM Modi for ₹15,000 Crore Allocation for Amaravati Development
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu expressed his gratitude to the Central government for addressing the state's needs and allocating significant funds for various developmental projects, including the new capital, Amaravati.
In his message, Naidu stated, "They've given us oxygen for the state that was on ventilator. This is just the starting." He extended his thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for their recognition of Andhra Pradesh's requirements, focusing on capital development, the Polavaram project, industrial nodes, and the advancement of backward areas. He remarked that this support would significantly contribute to rebuilding the state.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Budget 2024 on Tuesday, announced several initiatives for Andhra Pradesh, including a ₹15,000 crore allocation for Amaravati's development. Naidu conveyed his appreciation on X, stating, "On behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh, I thank the Hon'ble Prime Minister, @narendramodi Ji and Hon'ble Union Finance Minister, @nsitharaman Ji, for recognising the needs of our State and focusing on a Capital, Polavaram, industrial nodes and development of backward areas in AP in the union budget of FY 24-25."
He further added, "This support from the Centre will go a long way towards rebuilding Andhra Pradesh. I congratulate you on the presentation of this progressive and confidence-boosting budget."
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh also praised the Budget, calling it "a new sunrise" for the state. In his post on X, Lokesh expressed his delight and gratitude for the Finance Minister's announcements, emphasizing that these measures would significantly aid the state's development and social goals. He highlighted the importance of the contributions towards Amaravati and Polavaram, marking the day as a historic moment for Andhra Pradesh.
Lokesh stated, "I am extremely delighted and grateful for the Union Finance Minister’s announcements today in the Budget. These will go a long way towards helping AP achieve its development and social objectives. It’s a matter of great pride for the people of Andhra Pradesh that our struggle has been recognised, and a special and holistic package has been provided covering all important areas like industrial growth, infrastructure, irrigation and HRD."
He added, "I would like to make a special mention to the generous contribution made toward Amaravati and Polavaram. Today will be marked as a red letter day in the new state’s history. This is the first step towards our march together to building a state of our dreams."
Additionally, Finance Minister Sitharaman announced over ₹3 lakh crore for women-specific schemes in the state and a backward region grant for three districts, reaffirming the Centre's commitment to Andhra Pradesh's development.
