Nara Lokesh Fulfills Key Promise to Small Temples, Doubling Aid for Ritual Offerings
In a significant step towards fulfilling the promises made during his Yuva Galam Pada Yatra, Andhra Pradesh cabinet minister Nara Lokesh has increased government aid for the “Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyalu” ritual offerings in small temples from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000. The initiative, which will benefit 5,400 small temples across the state, was one of several commitments Lokesh made to the public before the assembly elections.
During his 3,132 km Pada Yatra, Lokesh heard from Brahmins in remote areas who expressed concern about the challenges in maintaining temple rituals due to a lack of income. Many of these smaller temples, especially in rural locations, struggle to afford basic offerings like incense, lamps, and prasad. In response, Lokesh pledged to address this issue if his party formed the government.
True to his word, Lokesh shared the news on social media, emphasizing his government’s dedication to supporting all sections of society. "As promised during the Pada Yatra, we have increased the aid for Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyalu to Rs. 10,000. This will help small temples conduct their rituals without any hurdles. We are committed to being a government that prioritizes the welfare of all," he stated.
The increase in aid is seen as a positive move for the thousands of small temples that depend on government support to continue their religious and cultural practices. Lokesh’s efforts are part of a broader agenda to uphold the cultural and spiritual heritage of Andhra Pradesh, as promised during the election campaign.
