Nara Lokesh: TDP's Focus on Jobs, Muslim Reservation, and Social Justice for Andhra Pradesh
Nara Lokesh, TDP leader and son of N Chandrababu Naidu, announced today that the party will prioritize job creation and support for marginalized communities in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP's recent success, winning 16 Lok Sabha seats, was key to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) victory.
Lokesh confirmed the continuation of the reservation policy for Muslims, despite opposition from their ally, BJP. He emphasized that this policy has been in place for two decades and aims to ensure social justice, not appeasement.
In an interview with NDTV, Lokesh explained that the Muslim community in Andhra Pradesh has the lowest per capita income. "Minorities in our state are struggling, and it's our responsibility to help them out of poverty," he said. "Our goal is to make sure no one is left behind as we develop our nation together. This has always been the TDP's approach."
Following the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh took on a leadership role, including a 4,000-kilometer march to connect with the public. He described his father's arrest as an act of political revenge, stating, "We are victims of vendetta politics. The law should be fair to everyone."
Lokesh dismissed rumors that TDP is seeking high positions in the new cabinet under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, set to be sworn in on Sunday. "TDP doesn't negotiate for posts, only for state funding. Our priority is Andhra Pradesh's welfare," he said. He also expressed his vision for Andhra Pradesh to contribute significantly to India's economy, aiming to be part of a $5 trillion economy with Andhra alone reaching $1 trillion.
